Fall Prevention

THE CHALLENGE:

Over 1 in 4 Americans aged 65+ fall each year. Two-thirds of those who fall will fall again within six months

Falls are the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults

Falls result in more than 2.8 million injuries treated in ER’s annually, including over 800,000 hospitalizations and more than 27,000 deaths

Falls are preventable - at least one-third of all falls involve environmental hazards in the home

Sequoia Senior Solutions recognizes the importance of fall prevention. We have developed this training program, oversight, and specific procedures to help reduce the risk of falling and to keep our seniors safe.

Caregiver Training

Many caregivers are specifically trained on Fall Prevention. Sequoia Senior Solutions can also schedule a training session with the client, caregiver, and therapist to further reduce the risk of falls. Each caregiver is carefully selected to work with a particular client, matching our needs assessment with the caregiver’s experience and the client’s personality with that of the caregiver. This allows consistency while the client regains independence over an extended period of time.

Supervision & Monitoring of Progress

A Sequoia Senior Solutions care manager will perform periodic visits to ensure that all caregivers follow proper procedures and will monitor progress and update the care plan as the situation evolves.
