For Immediate Release
PETALUMA, Sept. 13 –
Sequoia Senior Solutions, Inc., provider of in-home care
for seniors in Marin, Sonoma and Napa counties, has been
selected as one of the Best Places to Work in the North
Bay.
The award was announced today at a reception sponsored
by the North Bay Business Journal at Petaluma’s Sheraton
Sonoma County.
Sequoia Senior Solutions is one of 43 businesses from
Marin, Napa and Sonoma that were voted Best Places to
Work by their employees in the Business Journal’s second
annual survey of North Bay workers.
“This award means that our caregivers love what they do;
and happy caregivers make for happy clients,” said
Gabriella Ambrosi, Sequoia Senior Solutions President
and Chief Executive Officer. “It is a strong indication
that our company is fulfilling its mission to ensure a
better quality of life for seniors who want to remain
independent and at home in their advancing years”.
Many staff members work part-time and enjoy flexible
hours, both qualities cited by the employees who
participated in the Business Journal survey. “What
better recommendation is there for a work place than
from the workers themselves? It is our own employees who
are honoring us” Ambrosi said.
Ambrosi and husband, Stanton Lawson, founded Sequoia
Senior Solutions in 2003 from their Petaluma home. They
began with just one client, but by their second year
were providing service for 73 clients, more than they
could handle from their own home. The firm moved into a
suite of offices on Lynch Creek Way in Petaluma in 2005
and now has a pool of some 130 qualified caregivers
serving seniors throughout the three-county service
area.
The company began receiving recognition for its services
and as a quality place to work soon after it opened for
business.
In May 2005 they received the Older Worker and Exemplary
Employer Award from the state’s Employment Development
Department. The awards program honors businesses and
individuals for their exemplary contributions to
California's communities and economy.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger praised Sequoia Senior
Solutions, stating “In recognition of your outstanding
efforts in sustaining California's older workforce and
the economic well-being of your community, the State of
California is pleased to acknowledge your outstanding
efforts in the hiring and retention of older workers and
considers you a role model for all California
employers”.
“These awards really mean that our company is a good
place to work, especially for middle aged and retired
people who want to stay active and contribute to the
community while earning an income,” said Lawson, Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of the company.
In March 2006, Sequoia Senior Solutions was further
honored for quality of service to its clients and
customer satisfaction. The Pinnacle Quality Certificate
is awarded annually by Pinnacle Consulting of Salt Lake
City in recognition of consistent excellence,
achievement, and commitment to high levels of service
and customer satisfaction. In the customer survey
Sequoia Senior Solutions rose above Pinnacle’s charted
national average and their “best in class” category.
The caring service of Sequoia Senior Solutions makes it
possible for the elderly to maintain as much
independence as possible, by providing the appropriate
in home assistance and companionship.
