For Immediate Release
Stanton Lawson, chief financial officer for Sequoia
Senior Solutions, began serving as president of the
Community Health Foundation of Greater Petaluma’s Board
of Trustees this month, the foundation announced.
He succeeds Bob Curry, who has served as president for
the past two years.
Other officers installed for the new fiscal year are
vice president Ramona Faith, a registered nurse for over
20 years as well as the former vice president and chief
nursing officer at Petaluma Valley Hospital; and
secretary Pat Louks, a retired cardiac nurse and member
of the Petaluma Health Center board.
The foundation was established by the Petaluma Health
Care District in 1975 to support the former Hillcrest
Hospital.
Over the past three decades, the foundation has provided
$3.8 million in health-care support as the Petaluma area
has evolved from a traditional, family-doctor hospital
model to a more complicated scenario of clinics and
community wellness and nutrition programs, mixed with
conventional and non-traditional services.
Much of the funding the foundation has provided has come
from the investment proceeds of a $1 million bequest
received in 1976. Last year, the foundation trustees
launched a new fund development program to raise more
resources for health programs.
“We are moving forward aggressively on our new
fundraising mission,” Lawson said. “The local community
will have many opportunities to further support local
projects and agencies through the Community Health
Foundation in the coming months.
“Our current focus is to provide funding to the Petaluma
Health Center to ensure access for all south county
residents to quality health care.”
The foundation’s $2 million portfolio is managed by
Community Foundation Sonoma. For more information about
the foundation, call 773-3863.
