(PETALUMA, CA) – Representatives from the offices of Governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Assemblyman Joe Nation, and Congresswoman
Lynn Woolsey awarded certificates of recognition to Sequoia Senior
Solutions, Inc. of Petaluma, in Sacramento, Tuesday, May 17,
during a ceremony honoring the company as a semi-finalist for
California’s 2005 Older Worker and Exemplary Employer Award,
presented by the California Employment Development Department (EDD).
Each year, the state of California presents awards to a select
number of businesses and individuals who have been chosen for
their exemplary contributions to California's communities and
economy. The EDD chose Sequoia Senior Solutions, Inc. in the Small
Business category as they have proven to serve the North Bay
community with dependable and affordable in-home care to elderly
clients and their families.
A certificate from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was presented
that states: "In recognition of your outstanding efforts in
sustaining California's older workforce and the economic
well-being of your community. The State of California is pleased
to acknowledge your outstanding efforts in the hiring and
retention of older workers and considers you a role model for all
California employers."
A representative from Assemblyman Joe Nation’s office also
presented a certificate recognizing Sequoia Senior Solutions’
extraordinary commitment to providing highly trained caregivers to
help local seniors remain independent and in their own homes for
as long as possible. “By hiring retired persons, you have brought
a high level of credibility to the organization and comfort to the
senior clients. My sincere congratulation on this well-deserved
honor," he stated.
“We are extremely pleased and deeply honored by this recognition,”
says Gabriella Ambrosi, President and CEO of Sequoia Senior
Solutions, Inc. “We put all of our employees through a very
rigorous selection process. We look for people who can demonstrate
with their personality and personal experience that they enjoy,
and are competent, working with seniors.” She adds, “The
interaction with our clients and older workers is extremely
gratifying.”
Sequoia Senior Solutions has 100 employees, of which 79 are over
the age of 40, and 21 are over 60. The EDD singled out Sequoia
Senior Solutions as a successful company whose older employees
understand senior issues and provide sensitive and quality care.
By providing flexible schedules, superior orientation and training
programs, mentoring and coaching opportunities, and recognition
programs, the company consistently demonstrates that it values its
workers.
