Our Caregivers
The key to providing excellent in-home care? It’s all about the caregivers! We make it our mission to recruit, train, and retain compassionate and professional caregivers who feel that taking care of others is a higher calling.
Once we’ve made a hiring decision, each caregiver goes through a lengthy vetting process to ensure client safety, followed by a vigorous training program. And once they’re trained and on the job, our care managers and schedulers work to oversee and provide support on a day-to-day basis so you can rest easy knowing we are always working to make sure your loved one is taken care of.

Caregiver Vetting
Prior to caregiver attending orientation and training sessions, we perform the following;
- Reference checks (14 personal and professional references required)
- A nationwide FBI criminal history
- A background check through the Caregiver Background Check Bureau (a division of the California Department of Social Services)
- A DMV driving record check
- Drug testing
- A check of the Home Care Aide registry (each caregiver must be registered and cleared as a Home Care Aide with the California Department of Social Services’ Home Care Services Bureau)
Once hired, each caregiver is bonded and provided with workers’ compensation insurance to cover any potential accidents that may occur while on the job.
Caregiver Education
We have made caregiver training and education a cornerstone of our culture, and we believe this is reflected in the stellar reputation we have earned in the community and in the senior care industry.
Prior to starting work, each caregiver attends a day-long orientation and internal training session, followed by several hours of training required by the state. This state-mandated training includes courses on ADLs and IADLs (activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living), elder abuse prevention, patient’s rights and safety, body mechanics, and transportation safety. This training is repeated each year to ensure these best practices remain top of mind.
But the learning doesn’t stop with this initial training. We encourage and incentivize continuing education (pay raises & bonuses!), so each caregiver feels empowered to grow their knowledge base to better meet the needs of clients. Many of our caregivers are trained in our specialty programs that address specific needs:
All our courses are created and reviewed by Registered Nurses and accredited by the state through the California Department of Public Health.
Ongoing Support & Management
The needs of seniors can evolve quickly, and that’s why we employ experienced support staff and have established, tried-and-true practices to help manage the day-to-day. Here are just a few ways we take the stress out of caregiver management:
- 24/7 phone support for caregivers and clients
- Care managers that serve as your main point of contact and supervise each caregiver – performing surprise visits, conducting yearly evaluations, and serving as coaches for ongoing support
- Dedicated schedulers to help fill in shifts as emergencies or new needs arise
- Technology to help facilitate more efficient and accurate tracking of shifts and care notes
