Unique program allows caregivers to donate earnings directly to favorite charity

A unique charitable donation opportunity is now being
offered to Marin County residents by Sequoia Senior Solutions, Inc., a locally owned, in-home care service provider for seniors, as part of their kickoff in Marin County to employ caregivers who can now donate a portion, or all, of their earnings directly to their favorite charity.
Sequoia Senior Solutions is seeking caring individuals who delight in helping aging adults in need of assistance with their daily routines, running errands, or personal care. The caregiver’s net earnings can be donated as an automatic deposit to their favorite charity while Social Security and Medicare contributions would still be made on their behalf as an employee of Sequoia Senior Solutions. Mileage is also reimbursed if the caregiver uses his or her own vehicle while assisting clients.
The ideal candidate is someone who has some free time, would like to contribute to the community, and already has a comfortable income, according to Gabriella Ambrosi, President and CEO of Petaluma based Sequoia Senior Solutions. “Through this arrangement,” adds Ambrosi,” the caregiver gains a unique giving opportunity while simultaneously acquiring a personal tax advantage.”
The program is aimed at those who love to work one-on-one with the elderly, enjoy contributing to local, national, and international charity foundations, and are not necessarily searching for the typical day job. “It’s double-dipping in a very positive way,” says Ambrosi.
A potential caregiver would be someone who is patient and has an understanding of the importance of extended families. This special person may be an empty-nester seeking a new, meaningful occupation, someone with past experience in caregiving, or a fellow senior citizen.
